Combretaceae is a family of flowering plants in the Myrtales order. This family consists of about 600 species of plants in 19 genera. This family includes the leadwood (Combretum imberbe). Three genera, Conocarpus, Laguncularia, and Lumnitzera grow in the habitats of mangroves. Some members of this family, such as Terminalia ivorensis (idigbo) produce useful timber in construction. All members of this family are found throughout the tropics and subtropics.
